| Multi User Desktop 2004 Control Panel Overview |
|

| |
All Multi User Desktop 2004 Configuration is done in the
“Multi User Desktop 2004 Control Panel” or simply
“MUD2004 Control Panel”.
There are two ways to access MUD 2004 Control Panel:
(make sure MUD2004 is running)
1. Right-click on Multi User Desktop 2004 icon in
the system tray while on the Original Windows desktop
or
2. Go to “START”, Programs (or All Programs in Windows XP),
Multi User Desktop 2004 and click on “Multi User Desktop 2004
Control Panel” shortcut. MUD2004 Control Panel has four main
panels:
Desktops, Settings, Enhancements and Registration.
“DESKTOP Panel” lets you configure settings for all desktops,
including creating new desktops, deleting desktops and
configuring desktop settings.
“Settings Panel” lets you configure advanced system
setting for MUD 2004.
“Enhancements Panel” lets you enable or disable
MUD 2004 general enhancements for Windows.
“Registration Panel” displays the registration information
and lets you purchase the full version.
“Profiles” lets you create multiple profiles for MUD 2004
user/users and make a full back-up of all desktop
settings and content into a file for later restoration,
or using same profiles on multiple PCs.

1. Right-click on Multi User Desktop 2004 icon in the system
tray on the original Windows desktop.
2. Click on “Desktops”.
3. Click on “New”.
4. Enter Desktop Name in “Desktop Name” field.
5. Enter Desktop Folder in which desktop will be stored
This desktop, and all its contents, will be stored in
the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\\%USERNAME%\\Application
Data\Gamers Tower\Multi User Desktop 2004\”Desktop
Name”\, where %USERNAME% is your system username to
log in to Windows.
6. Assign a Hotkey in the Hotkey Box.
7. Choose if this desktop is “Local” or “Active Directory”.
“Local” desktop is authenticated using the current user
privileges. “Active Directory” desktop is authenticated using
a different domain, username and password.
8. Skip this step if you are creating a “Local” desktop.
To create “Active Directory“ desktop select “Active Directory”
option and click on settings. Enter Domain or Host name,
username and password. If unsure, ask your network/system
administrator for this information. Click on “Create user” to
create a new user in the specified Domain or Host name
if you have sufficient rights, then click Ok
9. Click on “Other” to select wallpaper, display resolution
and Shell.
10. Go to “Start-Up Manager” to set up programs that
you want to start automatically on the new desktop.
11. Go to “Security” tab to enable and specify the type of
security protection to be used for the new desktop.
12. Click on OK to close this screen.
13. Click on Apply and OK to save changes.

1. “Quick Lock” - quickly locks a desktop with a new,
temporary username and password, for which you will be
prompted. Once you unlock that desktop, the password
protection will be removed.
2. “Permanent Password” - quickly locks a desktop with the
predefined username and password. You will have to use
the same username and password to unlock this desktop.
The desktop gets locked only when you click on LOCK in
the System Tray Menu.
3. “Permanent Auto Password Protection” - automatically
locks the desktop with the predefined username and
password whenever you switch to another desktop.
You will have to use the same username and password
to unlock this desktop. |
