  · - Some or all desktop show the same icons as the Original desktop
(Standard Windows Desktop).


· - I get Active Desktop Recovery prompt on some of my desktop.

· - Task Manager sometimes does not appear when I press CTRL+ALT+DEL and
click on Task Manager


· - I cannot run some programs if they are already running on another desktop

.· - When I launch MS Outlook Express and Outlook on an additional desktop
it takes a long time to start.


.· - I have only one additional desktop and most buttons are grayed out in
DESKTOP/SETTING Panels


.· - All my icons are rearranged after a reboot

· - My desktops keep changing (rotating) from one to another

· - Multi User Desktop 2004 icon disappears from the System Tray and MUD2004.exe
memory usage goes up in the Task Manager and then crashes


.· - I created a new desktop, Multi User Desktop 2004 hangs while restarting all desktops

Cause:
On some occasions and on some systems Windows Explorer may
freeze and not respond to the call placed by Windows Kernel in the specified time.
When this happens Windows restores that desktop to the default settings.
The default settings are taken from the Original Windows Desktop
(The Standard Desktop)

.Fix:
Restart Desktops.
(Restarting Desktops will close all programs running on all additional desktops)
1. Right Click on Multi Desktop icon in the system Tray on the Original Windows
Desktop and click on “Restart Desktops”

Prevention:
If this problem occurs on regular basis you can disable the anti-virus or find
which program on your PC causes this issue.

MUD 2004 versions - ALL
Windows version – Windows 2000

Cause:

Active Desktop on Windows 2000 does not support multiple desktops.
It treats all desktops identically

Fix:
No fix available.

Prevention / Workaround:
We recommend turning OFF Active Desktop.
To turn off Active Desktop go to Display Properties in Control Panel
click on the "WEB" tab and remove check mark from
"Show Web Content on my Active Desktop"
or
Use wallpapers on all desktops.
Wallpapers will hide the error screen.

MUD 2004 versions - ALL
Windows version – ALL


Cause:
Most standard windows errors messages and some application messages
(Debugger, Illegal Operation, Task Manager when called from
CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, etc) are shown only the Original Windows Desktop.

Fix:
Switch to the Original Windows Desktop. (default Hotkeys are ALT +1
and ALT+NUM1)

Prevention:
This is the way Multi User Desktop 2004 and MS Windows are supposed
to function.

Windows version – ALL

Cause:

Some Third Party Products (programs) do not allow multiple instances of it to be run
simultaneously. Due to licensing, stability, performance issues

.Prevention:

This is issues with third party products. We cannot provide solution to resolve this issue.
Please contact product’s developer to obtain the latest upgrades.

it takes a long time to start.

Windows version – ALL

Cause:

MS Outlook Express requires MSN Messenger to be run on the same desktop.
On some systems, MS Outlook may wait for a timeout period preset my Microsoft.

Fix: / Prevention:
Run MSN Messenger on the same desktop as Multi User Desktop 2004.
We recommend running MS Outlook on the Original Windows desktop if the problem
occurs.

Cause:

Multi User Desktop 2004 14-Day Free Trial:
The 14-Day Trail period had expired. Multi User Desktop 2004.Standard:
The license registration information is corrupt. Due to Hard Drive problems,
File System Problems or it had been altered or tempered with.

Fix: / Prevention:
Multi User Desktop 2004 14-Day Free Trial:
You need to purchase the licensed version.

Multi User Desktop 2004.Standard:
Reinstall MUD2004 and enter registration information exactly as it
appears on the receipt given/sent to you.

Cause:
Multi User Desktop 2004 was not exited properly or profile was corrupted.

Fix: / Prevention:
Do not “END TASK” on Multi User Desktop 2004.
Recreate user Profile using Profile Manager.

Cause:

"Desktop Auto-Switch" is enabled.

Fix: / Prevention:

Disable "Desktop Auto-Switch".
Press the Start/Stop key you've assigned to start or stop "Desktop Auto-Switch" or
press any desktop hotkey. Default Hotkeys are ALT+1, ALT+2,..... ALT NUM+1,
ALT NUM+2... etc "

Cause:

1. System Tray auto-hide is enabled.
2. Multi User Desktop 2004 had crashed

.Fix: / Prevention:

Make sure “system tray” auto-hide is not enabled. If it is enabled click on
the arrows pointing to the right.
or
End task on MUD2004.exe in the Task Manager.

Cause:

Multi User Desktop 2004 registry is corrupt or inaccessible

.Fix: / Prevention:
Error “Another instance of Multi User Desktop 2004 is already running”
appears if you start MUD2004.
1. End task on MUD2004.exe in the Task Manager.
2. Delete the desktop you’ve created, from the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gamers Tower\Multi User Desktop
2004\%profile name%\Desktops\
Delete “Desktop#” and “Desktop#StartUp” entries

Cause:
Multi User Desktop 2004 is already running.

Fix: / Prevention:
Make sure MUD2004 Control Panel is closed and try to switch desktops.
If MUD2004 does not appear in the system tray but MUD2004.exe is in
the TASK MANAGER then End task on MUD2004.exe.
